Julius Malema Political Journey
1991: Joined the Masupatsela ("trailblazers") movement of the African National Congress (ANC).
1995: Malema joined the ANC Youth League and became the chairperson of his local branch in Seshego and of the regional branch in broader Capricorn.
1997: Became the provincial chairperson of the Congress of South African Students (COSAS) in Limpopo.
2001: Elected as national president of COSAS.
2008 - 2012: 9th President of the African National Congress Youth League.
2013: Founded Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) and was elected unopposed as the President and "commander-in-chief" of the EFF.
2014: Elected as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa.
2019: Re-elected to a second five-year parliamentary term in the National Assembly of South Africa.
